CosmopolitanTV
Channel 262 | Available on free preview throughout July
To celebrate its month-long free preview, CosmopolitanTV is launching Lena Dunham’s highly praised – and rather addictive – HBO series Girls* for the first time on “non-pay” specialty television. The lower-tier broadcast, which begins with back-to-back episodes on Thursday July 4 at 9 p.m. ET, will be uncensored and uncut. This is Cosmo, after all.
The juicy Judd Apatow production has “CosmoTV” written all over it, almost as if it were designed specifically for the self-described “flirty and irreverent” TV channel. Targeting women aged 18 to 34, who may or may not already read Cosmopolitan magazine, CosmoTV is co-produced by Hearst, the popular publication’s publisher.
The CosmoTV mandate is “men, sex and relationships,” which means Sex and the City (naturellement), love-triangle sci-fi romance The Vampire Diaries, the Peter Krause and Donald Sutherland soap Dirty Sexy Money and romantic comedy-drama Men in Trees; reruns of Ugly Betty, Will & Grace and Dawson’s Creek; plus the reality series Running in Heels, Jerseylicious, It’s a Brad Brad World, Holidate, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Lovebroker, Tough Love New Orleans, Tough Love Miami and Love Trap. Sense a theme?
