And the Oscar goes to… Of all the European nations, the British football faithful despise the “art” of diving more than anyone. 5. Junior Hoilett
This one hurts our pride as a nation, as Canadian Junior Hoilett (playing for Blackburn at the time) does a swan dive untouched in the box.
4. Steve Gerrard
Liverpool’s Steve Gerrard is so adept at the art of diving that it’s too hard to pick just one. So here’s a compilation of his greatest hits. The only thing sadder about Gerrard’s diving is his constant preaching to remove it from the game.
3. Fernando Torres
Fernando Torres has been a notorious diver throughout his career. At least this time the refs see it and issue him his second yellow card, kicking him out of the game.
2. Ashley Young
In this Manchester derby, United’s Ashley Young acts like he’s been shot on this harmless challenge from City’s James Milner.
1. Luis Suarez
