With the finals of the UEFA Champions League tournament heading to London’s Wembley Stadium for a record seventh time on May 25, we’ve put together a list of insane videos that is sure to get you in the mood for Europe’s premiere club competition.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United v. Porto – 2009
He’s called this goal the best he’s ever scored. Cristiano Ronaldo scored this beauty six minutes into the game, sending Manchester United to the final four back in 2009.
4. Thierry Henry, Arsenal v. Sparta Prague – 2005
Not only did this goal cement Thierry Henry as one of the greatest ever – it’s one of two goals he scored this game, making him top goal-scorer in Arsenal history. The amazing bend to beat the Sparta Prague keeper is just magnificent.
3. Mauro Bressan, Fiorentina v. Barcelona – 1999
You probably don’t know who Mauro Bressan is. In just three Champions League starts, Bressan scores what is likely the best bicycle kick you will ever see, for Fiorentina. The crowd seems to agree, cause at 25 seconds of this video they’re so excited they decide to burn something in the stands.
2. Charles-Édouard Coridon, Paris Saint-Germain v. Porto – 2004
Ranked fourth best Champions League goal of all time by European broadcaster ITV Sport, this is one the more bizarre goals in CL history. Coridon either tried to be very flashy here or reacted to the ball late. Either way it proved effective.
1. Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid v. Bayer Leverkusen – 2002
In what was an amazing display of foot-eye coordination, Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane is spot on, scoring the winning goal over Bayer Leverkusen with an insane powerhouse volley and goal that rocketed the French-born footballer to elite status.
