You know that tablet or smartphone you’re holding – the one you use for streaming movies, playing games, reading and virtually everything else these days? Well, now you can add watching and controlling live TV and managing your PVR* to the seemingly never-ending list of your device’s uses, thanks to the new Rogers Anyplace TV Home Edition app.

Available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, the app lets you navigate, search, set PVR recordings and live-stream content to your device, without interrupting what’s playing on your big-screen TV. Think about the true benefits for a sec: you’re on the couch watching Dexter, but you’re also following the Toronto Raptors’ game. Catch both without flipping back and forth. And if you actually do want to channel surf, Rogers Anyplace TV Home Edition turns your tablet or smartphone into a remote control, too.

The service also lets you manage and set PVR programming wherever you are, straight from your device. So, if you’re out somewhere and realize you forgot to set your PVR to record a show (or you need to erase content to make room for new recordings), simply do it from your device.

Live streaming of 25 channels. Remote control. Easy scrolling and searching. Anywhere access. Yes, please.

Note: for Ontario only. Must be a subscriber to Rogers Digital TV. Must also be a subscriber to Hi-Speed Internet to use live streaming (Lite tier or higher).

* Currently for use with set-top box models 8642 HDPVR, 4642 HD, 8300 HDPVR and 4250 HD. NextBox PVRs must be running the new Interactive Program Guide.

Thanks for your non-answer. Why don’t you do that for me?

When will you add channels to live tv? These 25 are awful. What about ch 30-60 and 66-100, and my TMN package etc etc. Why can’t we stream all channels we are paying dearly for on our cable lineup? Also, why can’t I bllock time periods on the nextbox, like I could on the 8300? Given the crappy live content and inability to parental block time periods – may as well go back to 8300, not to mention the better TV guide interface!

Hello, I can’t wait that my Rogers contract expire. I had enough. I donwload the app " TV Mobile" on my Ipad & Iphone4. I am a subscriber of Rogers digital TV, my phone, Internet and cable are with Rogers. I try to log-in and the only message I see is" general error – unable to reach the remote service, please check your internet connection and try again (804)" like most of you. And the response of Rogers on this forum is always " contact our Rogers Customer care help on Facebook or Twitter". Call Rogers? Done and after 3 hrs on the phone they had no answer.I would like an aswer from a techncian to this problem not to look on FB

I have the same issue -as do several others based on a Google search. Has anyone from Rogers responded to you? I have an older iPad, no other audio issues with any other app and am accessing through my wireless router.

app is a cool initiative.. has some bugs.. the remote function works faster than my physical one which only confirms what i have been telling the rogers techs, that nextbox has a prob.

that being. aawesome idea. showed it off to co-workers at work.. ha. customer service is bar none, the best. (aand i was a bell customer service rep for 8 years)

BTW: to the rogers employees that are reply to the posts on this page; do you loyal customer a favour and say ‘thanks’ once in a while. seems only the negative feedback is worthy of a response…you guys have a lot of support too, lots of compliment ..yet you rarely seem to acknowledge this! c’mon it’s a no-brainer; it’s good PR …

ALSO: i need you guys to talk to some1 about the colour schemes..(or lack thereof)…im red/green colourblind … the old pvr’s had the option to change the colours.. please please please…upgrade the software cuz its sometimes difficult to see the options!!
cheers

By looking at all the comments, thanks – I will not waste my take. You should sell no app before it’s time. Ever heard that before?

I have an android tablet.
I have a laptop running Win-7

Any plans for bringing out this product for Windows and Laptops?

This sounds terrific … BUT …
Since I received an iPad at Christmas, I already get messages when I’ve used 75% of my plan time. If I’m using this app on my phone or iPad, what happens to my internet usage???? I’m not upping my plan to accommodate this service.

I am interested in the app, but seeing all the customer reviews, I have decided without even seeing the app, that it must be on the same level of "helpful" as Rogers billing! No thank you!! I need efficiency, not headaches!!

I need it for both Z10 (BB10) and PlayBook. For the beginning an Android app can be easily converted (PlayBook and BB10 can easily emulate Android) but a proper full-featured app using BB gestures would be better than any other app version (Apple or Android).

Anyplace TV, as long as you are in Canada. Went to a lot of other to install the app when we were in holiday in US only to find out it doesn’t't work there. Never mentioned in any of the info or ads.

    Hi,

As explained on our website: "Rogers Anyplace TV members can tune-in and catch up on their favourite programming whether at home, at the office, or on the go in Canada." You’d also find the same mention in our terms of service. Sorry if it was unclear at some point!

Ok so I came here to see how to get the tv anyplace for my ipad which your email said was there but do not see how to get it and a lot of verbiage. Come on. This is like trying to read your bill.

This App does NOT work. at all. Ever.
It does not even allow you to log on. all you get is an error code 804 over and over.
I joined online, got a welcome email later and was still not able to get into the app.

I can’t access content on the site either. I am a subscriber, use Rogers for all my services and pay to receive the channels I’m trying to access but keep getting a message that says I need to be a Rogers subscriber to access the service. If I had any more Rogers sevices in my house I would OWN Rogers!

You sent me this email about Rogers Anyplace Tv Home Edition. I read the article and am not sure whether this app replaces the 3 I already have from Rogers, BUT, more importantly, it does not have a download link that I could use, nor does it tell me where to go to download the app. Bottom line: not an effective piece of communication.

I just tried your Rogers Anyplace Home Edition in my tablet. The app’s response time on my Android tablet is so slow that it’s a bad joke. What’s more, once it finally responds, it takes at least a minute for the PVR itself (sitting a mere 6 feet away from me) to respond. It’s a very good idea, Rogers, and the app looks pretty but there’s still a LOT of work to do. I’ll wait for ‘release 2′ but for now: FAIL.

It is nice to have the Rogers Anyplace TV app if I could sign in. I have tried for 3 days to sign in and all I get is Rogers is having technical difficulties. Try again.

Honestly, what good is the app if you cannot sign in and watch a show?
