Quick Tips

Wix |

Difficulty: Low
Wix provides hundreds of website templates – from small-business to ones for creating a portfolio or resumé – including many for free. Getting started is easy: choose your template, and customize by dragging in photos and other elements. Add social-media and other widgets, and upgrade to one of the premium accounts for e-commerce and other marketing tools.

WordPress |

Difficulty: Low to Medium
WordPress offers the largest selection of free website templates, for virtually any application. Want to start a blogger site that doesn’t look amateur? Keen on responsive design? There are more than 1,770 themes to choose from. A bit more complex than Wix, some WordPress websites require a bit of tech know-how; others are drag-and-drop. Premium upgrades exist.

Weebly |

Difficulty: Low to medium
Similar to Wix, Weebly offers myriad templates, but whereas Wix doesn’t let you switch up your template, Weebly lets you change design whenever you wish; your content will be automatically reformatted. Likewise, Weebly also offers a bit more customization than Wix – not quite on the WordPress level, but more so than Wix.
